Supa John, A Key Figure in French Reggae
Of Caribbean origin, Supa John has been a major player in the French reggae scene since the 1980s. Passionate about soul and reggae, he started out alongside Daddy Yod in the legendary Rue des Panneaux sound systems in Paris. In the late ’80s, he was deeply influenced by the arrival of Jamaican productions in France, featuring artists such as Sanchez, Frankie Paul, and Thriller U, which inspired him to refine his style and fully embrace singing.
At the same time, he gained recognition by writing lyrics for renowned French reggae artists, including Daddy Yod and Tonton David (Peuple du Monde). His talent as both a songwriter and performer led to collaborations with Raggasonic on the track “Laisse le peuple s’exprimer” and, in 1999, he joined DDR (Different Du Reste Band), further cementing his place in the French reggae landscape.

In 2010, Supa John took another major step in his career with the release of his album “Ma destinée”, a project showcasing his artistic evolution and deep commitment to reggae culture. Staying true to his roots and message, he continues to share his music with passion and authenticity.
