F.Y.A.H. - Free Your Authentic Heart: A Timeless Musical Journey at the Heart of Reggae

F.Y.A.H Free your authentic Heart

Who’s ready to raise their hands and soul to the rhythm of authentic and refined reggae? If you’re one of those who elevates with the music, then it’s high time to check out Free Your Authentic Heart, the debut album from the group F.Y.A.H. This musical project emerges from the boundless creativity of Delroy "Pele" Hamilton, the former bassist of Raging Fyah, who transformed the challenges of the pandemic into a powerful and vibrant musical expression. By joining forces with guitarist Nicolas Groskopf and singer Elton Earlington, they created an album of rare beauty, blending classic influences with modern innovation, offering a raw emotional purity rarely seen in contemporary reggae.

A Creative Journey: From Inspiration to Reality

The story of Free Your Authentic Heart begins with the intimacy of Pele’s first sketches: voice notes recorded on his phone, some scribbled notes on a corner of a table, and an acoustic guitar as his only companion. What could have remained a personal outlet quickly evolved into a collective project, fueled by the collaboration of passionate and talented musicians. As the process unfolded, this simple collection of memories and emotions transformed into a true musical manifesto. Pele reflects:

“What started as a simple outlet became the truest expression of my feelings and experiences. This album not only reflects what I went through during this time, but also what I want to share with the world. Each song carries a piece of me, and I hope you find the same peace when listening to it.”

An Album Enriched by Renowned Artists

To bring this vision to life, Pele and his collaborators surrounded themselves with a host of internationally acclaimed musicians. Among them are legendary figures of reggae, such as Wayne “C-Sharp” Clarke and Kirk Bennett on drums, and the late Denver Smith on percussion. The album’s instrumental depth and richness are evident in the exceptional performances of Robert Malcolm, Hector “Roots” Lewis, and true keyboard virtuosos like Andrew Marsh and Kevon Webster.

But that’s not all. The album also features collaborations with big names that highlight its excellence. The opening track, Freedom Fighter, features Steel Pulse, reggae legends, who add their unique touch to this energetic anthem dedicated to all those fighting for truth and justice. Also appearing is reggae icon Alborosie on I Believe.

Instead of sharing the mic, Alborosie showcases his musical talent by playing guitar, keyboard, and percussion, recording the song in his Schengen Studio.

Musical and Emotional Surprises

The album continually surprises listeners with magical moments. Hold I Head Up, a particularly emotional track, brings together the talents of Glen Browne, one of reggae’s greatest guitarists and bassists, whose warm and soothing voice adds a layer of comfort to the encouraging lyrics, offering a unique sensory experience.

When I’m With You, featuring the talented Hollie Cook, is a sweet and captivating duet, perfect for those who love to be carried away by the tenderness of a reggae rhythm that invites heartfelt dancing.

Love is also a central theme in many of the tracks, including Cool Down, which gives a nod to Sheldon Palmer on the brass section, and Live My Life, an anthem for self-expression and freedom. The funky Love Got A Hold brings irresistible energy, while Oh Oh Oh celebrates the undeniable power of music.

Messages of Consciousness and Resilience

The album is more than just melodies and star collaborations—it tackles deep and significant themes. Never Give Up is a call for perseverance in the face of adversity, while Where You Gonna Run invites introspection on life choices. But it is the title track, Free Your Authentic Heart, that truly encapsulates the spirit of the project: a call to break free from the mental and emotional chains that hold us back. The song reminds us of the importance of authenticity and inner freedom, two essential values in a world often imprisoned by societal norms and expectations.

“No more shackles and chains, no more mental restraints, no more stress on our brain, let it go!”

An Uplifting Conclusion: Brighter Day

The album closes on an uplifting note with Brighter Day, a transcendent track that blends harmony and depth. Almost hymn-like, it once again showcases Elton’s vocal range, and with the instrumental prowess that the other 11 tracks demonstrate, this final piece gives the album a radiant and optimistic closing. It evokes a hopeful future and an inspiring vision of the world.

A Group Ready to Make History in Reggae

With this album, F.Y.A.H. establishes itself as a new force in the global reggae scene. The musicians in the group have managed to combine tradition and innovation, creating a timeless and authentic work that will surely be etched in the memory of reggae fans. Their unique style, creative energy, and social consciousness make them an essential new voice in the genre.
